J.P. Martinez, an outfielder with the Texas Rangers who is 27 years old, was acquired by the Atlanta Braves, the team announced this morning.

Martinez made his Texas debut last season, batting.225 in 17 games. Martinez was signed by the Rangers as an international free agent out of Cuba in 2018.

Martinez advanced from High-A Hickory to AAA Round Rock in the previous season, batting.297/.425/.538 in 82 games with 14 home runs and 41 stolen bases. MiLB.com selected Martinez an organizational All-Star. Martinez made his major league debut on August 11th, playing all three outfield positions for Texas and hitting one home run in his brief stay. He still has two minor league choices available to him and is eligible as a prospect.
