In yet another close game against the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Divisional Round, the Buffalo Bills met their demise.
Although the Bills are upset not to advance, they performed well enough to earn a spot in the postseason.
Midway through the 2023 NFL season, Buffalo appeared hopeless as their offense got mired in the muck, finishing with a 6-6 record.
The team decided they needed to make a change, so they sacked offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey and promoted Joe Brady as interim head coach.
Josh Allen and the offense soon found their identity again after Brady was substituted, and they went on a tear to secure the No. 2 spot in the AFC.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Bills made the proper decision to retain Brady as offensive coordinator despite the defeat to the Chiefs.According to insiders, Joe Brady, the Bills’ temporary offensive coordinator, will soon take over as their permanent coordinator. Given how he sparked their offense this season, it was an obvious option. This is hardly shocking considering that Brady genuinely assisted the offense in finding its identity in the middle of the season—not an easy feat for a club with Super Bowl hopes.
With James Cook more often used in the backfield, Brady centered the offensive plan around the run game, which made Allen’s life simpler on shorter downs and distances.
Brady should be able to repeat his performance now that he has the entire season to restructure the offense, which may lead to another breakout season for the Bills.
