On Tuesday afternoon, the Buffalo Bills formally promoted Bobby Babich to defensive coordinator.

Babich, 40, joined the Bills in 2017 as an assistant defensive backs coach.

He was promoted to safeties coach the following season and remained in that position from 2018 to 2021.

Babich was named Buffalo’s linebackers coach in 2022, where he had previously worked for two seasons. Babich’s players have excelled during his tenure in Buffalo.

Micah Hyde was named to the Pro Bowl in 2017 and was a second-team All-Pro in both 2017 and 2021, while Jordan Poyer was named first-team All-Pro under Babich in 2021.

Matt Milano was a first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl selection last season.

TJust a few hours after the announcement, numerous Bills players reacted to Babich’s promotion on social media.

Tyrel Dodson said Babich as the best coach he’d ever had.

“If I wanted to say everything I have about Bobby, I would run out of space,” Dodson said on Twitter. “Best coach I’ve ever had, hands down. Believed in me before anyone else did.

Raise the bar for myself.

I am not surprised. You not only earned this, but it was well deserved!! Love!!!”

Dodson, who just had his greatest season as a pro under Babich, appears to be swayed to re-sign with Buffalo as a result of the move.
