Venus Williams has returned to the tennis court in an effort to prepare for her return at the 2024 Indian Wells and Miami Open.
Williams had an injury-plagued 2023 season.
She competed in the ASB Classic, but was forced to withdraw from the Australian Open, the entire North American hard-court swing, and the French Open owing to unexplained injuries.
In 2023, the former World No. 1 only played eight tournaments, including two of the four Grand Slams: the Wimbledon Championships and her home Slam, the US Open.
Last year, the five-time Wimbledon winner gained a wildcard entrance.
However, her All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club campaign was cut short as she lost in the first round against Elina Svitolina.
Williams was injured during the third game of the match when she unexpectedly tripped and fell.
Venus Williams’ season took a turn for the worst after she suffered an injury at Wimbledon.
She had defeats in the first round of the Canadian Open, the second round of the Western & Southern Open, and another.
Williams recently announced in a YouTube video that she will compete in the 2024 Indian Wells and Miami Open events. She also stated that her “little sister” Serena Williams has been a major source of inspiration for her decision.
