Playing together for the first time this season, Ariana Arseneault and DJ Bennett crushed Sabina Zeynalova and Taisiya Pachkaleva, winning 6-1 on the first court.
In the doubles lineup on Saturday, Carolyn Ansari and Selin Ovunc moved from their customary position on court three to court two.
The Auburn pair defeated Tanya Sasnoukaya and Malaika Rapolu by a score of 6-4 after taking an early 4-3 lead.
With the victory by Ansari and Ovunc, Auburn earned their fifth doubles point of the year.
In the singles match, Arseneault overcame a 4-1 disadvantage in the first set to force a tiebreaker against Sasnouskaya, who was ranked 29th. Arseneault then overcame a 6–0 deficit to win the set in a tough tiebreaker.
In addition, Bennett overcame a 3-1 deficit to win her opening set against Rapolu via a tiebreaker. On the other four courts, the Longhorns won the majority of the first sets of the matches.
Texas won the first set in a straight set on court five to level the score. Auburn freshman Ava Esposito Cogan then won the second set to send the match to a deciding third set on court six.
After that, Texas’ Charlotte Chavatipon prevailed on court six, and the Longhorns led 3-1 after Sabina Zeynalova defeated Ansari in her match on court one.Bennett, who led her second set on court three at one point 5-3, helped Auburn stay in the match on the final three courts.
In the end, Vivian Ovrootsky defeated Esposito Cogan in the third set to win the match and secure the Longhorns’ team victory on court six.
