In the Plainsman Invitational, Auburn softball made a comeback to Jane B. Moore Field to take on Southeast Missouri State.

The Tigers defeated the Redhawks 8-0 in five innings, winning the game in dramatic manner.

Against the Redhawks, the Tigers scored runs on both sides of the ball early and frequently.

Shelby Lowe and Annabelle Widra combined for a no-hitter and nine strikeouts in the game.

Throughout the game, the Redhawks committed four throwing errors, which hampered them throughout.

Icess Tresvik gave Auburn its first hit of the day and, in the bottom of the first inning, drove in the first run of the game.

The lead was increased to 2-0 thanks to a string of hits from Aubrie Lisenby and Widra, who had her first three hits of the game.

Riley McNemar also recorded her first RBI of the season at this time.

With two more Redhawk mistakes, the Tigers would end the inning with three hits and three runs.

Widra launched a leadoff home run, her first of the year and her second hit of the day, to start the game after being kept without a runner in the third inning.

After that, Auburn added two more runs to put pressure on Southeast Missouri State.

If the Redhawks were unable to score in the top of the following frame, Auburn may have easily won the game.

In the top of the fifth, Widra took the mound for her second inning of work. With her second strikeout, she put Auburn in a position to walk off the game.

Widra decided to take matters into her own hands and smashed her second home run of the day to lead the Redhawks in runs scored in the bottom of the fifth inning with two outs and no runners on base.

Widra stated, “I was really just trying to stay within my process.

” “I was just trying to stay within myself and put barrel to ball, even though I knew we had two outs and I honestly didn’t even know the score.”

Lowe earned her second win of the season to improve to 2-0 as the Tigers combined to throw a no-hitter that kept the Redhawks to three base runners the whole game.

Whether there are zeros on the board or not, Lowe stated, “it is always a good day to be out there,” but the presence of zeros is always a great day.
