Rasmus Hojlund of Atalanta was a “happy” addition to Manchester United last summer, according to Erik ten Hag, especially in light of the “shortage of good options.”

Hojlund moved from Atalanta to Manchester United during the summer transfer window of 2023 for an estimated €75 million, with a further €10 million.

The Danish international made 34 appearances for La Dea and scored 10 goals in his one and only season in Bergamo.

The 21-year-old has managed seven goals in 20 Premier League appearances so far, despite having a slow start at Manchester United. In 2024, he will rank among the most prolific players in Europe’s top five divisions.

Despite the fact that he is now sidelined due to a muscular ailment, Red Devils boss ten Hag stated the team is happy with the former Atalanta star.

“There was a severe lack of excellent possibilities. That’s why, as Goal.com reports, we were thrilled to sign Rasmus Hojlund, a player on par with Manchester United,” he said to reporters on Sunday.

Hojlund was replaced by Gianluca Scamacca of West Ham and Charles De Ketelaere of Milan for Atalanta. The Italian forward has seven goals and three assists in 25 games this season, while the Belgian attacker has 10 goals and seven assists in 29 games across all competitions.
