The San Francisco 49ers have a bright future ahead of them, despite not making it to the Super Bowl.
The Detroit Lions’ Graham Glasgow must be acquired by the front office in order to strengthen Brock Purdy’s surrounding protection.
The 49ers overcame several opponents in the playoffs, largely due to their third-ranked offense and defense among the 32 teams in the NFL.
Among them are two narrow victories over the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers. In Super Bowl LVIII, the 49ers discovered the Kansas City Chiefs on the opposing side of the field once the smoke cleared.
With a score of 25–22 in overtime, the latter prevailed after a fierce battle. Why Signing Graham Glasgow in Free Agency Will Help The San Francisco 49ers Strengthen Brock Purdy’s Defense
Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, and Graham GlasgowGraham Glasgow of the Lions, whose previous contract was worth $4 million, is one of the players San Francisco needs to take into consideration in free agency.
More was revealed by Aaron Schatz in his piece for ESPN:
“With free agent signings and draft selections this offseason, the 49ers need to completely revamp their offensive line.”
Glasgow’s addition would only be a minor portion of the answer. Given that Glasgow reaches 32 in July, a short-term contract would very certainly be offered.
He does, however, have a great deal of experience in zone blocking, which is a mainstay of the 49ers’ attack.Glasgow’s run block win percentage (77.2%) from the previous season ranked second among all guards.
Despite having an average pass block win percentage of 91%, he outperformed 49ers guards Aaron Banks (88.6%) and Spencer Burford (87.9%).
Glasgow might move in to take the place of Burford and Jon Feliciano on the right side, or Banks on the left.
Should the 49ers require versatility, Glasgow also has experience playing center, according to Schatz.
If all goes according to plan, Purdy’s will have more time to concentrate on leading San Francisco’s attack without worrying about being tackled or distracted.
Later in the season, when the NFL resumes play, the 49ers will be able to field an effective offensive lineup. It would be interesting to observe Glasgow’s final location in the days ahead.
Whatever team he chooses to join for the upcoming season, San Francisco will undoubtedly be a fantastic fit for him.
