The Denver Broncos caused a stir prior to free agency when head coach Sean Payton decided to cut ties with quarterback Russell Wilson in spite of a dead cap charge of $85 million.

However, rumors state that Lil’Jordan Humphrey, a former wide receiver for the Texas Longhorns, will be staying in Mile High City for a little while longer on a one-year contract.

He spent three years as a wide receiver at Texas, appearing in 36 games with 18 starts.

He declared himself eligible for the 2019 NFL Draft and finished his college career with 125 receptions, 1,622 yards, and 10 touchdowns.

In 2017 and 2018, he was named honorable mention All-Big 12.Under Sean Payton’s direction, Humphrey started his NFL career with the Saints in 2019 after going undrafted.

He played in six games during a brief stay with the Patriots in 2022 before reuniting with Payton in Denver over the previous summer.
Under Sean Payton’s direction, Humphrey joined the Broncos last season with a number of former Saints and became an important part of the offense.

He made a career-high eight starts out of 17 games and finished with 13 receptions for 162 yards and three touchdowns. He most notably demonstrated his big-play ability late in the season against the Chargers with a 54-yard catch-and-run score.

Humphrey was not only a great receiver but also the Broncos’ best run blocker, which was an important part of Sean Payton’s offensive plan.Humphrey is also a great insurance policy in case someone is hurt, especially Tim Patrick. Given his depth and adaptability, Humphrey is probably going to stay on the Broncos roster for the next campaign.
