With a few weeks remaining before the 2024 NFL Draft, the Washington Commanders signed a former San Francisco 49ers running back to their backfield.

For the 2024 season, the Commanders intend to bolster their reconstructed offensive by adding talented players.

Austin Ekeler, a former star of the Los Angeles Chargers, was one of the Commanders’ greatest free agent additions this summer.

For whoever they decide to start at quarterback this fall, Ekeler is a fantastic dual threat out of the backfield.

Before OTAs, though, the team still needed depth at running back.

The Commanders announced that they had signed running back Jeremy McNichols.

During his two seasons with the 49ers, which began in 2017 and ended in 2023, McNichols played.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected McNichols in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

He has played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts, Denver Broncos, and Tennessee Titans.

McNichols, 28, has participated in 37 games.

Over his six years in the NFL, he has rushed for 364 yards and one score.

For the 2023 season, he made three appearances but had no offensive statistics.
