The Atlanta Falcons announced on Monday that cornerback Kevin King has signed with the team. King, who was selected in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers, appeared in 51 games for the green and gold, starting 42 of them.
However, he hasn’t worn a uniform since 2021.
Doug Kyed stated in 2022 that King will miss the entire season in order to heal from his injuries in Green Bay. King posted a 21-minute YouTube video over a year ago in which he described every problem he was having during his season off from competition.
King was supposed to make his comeback to the game in 2023, but during a training he tore his Achilles, which caused him to miss the full season for the second year in a row. King will now travel to Atlanta to join some well-known people.
At the University of Washington, where Lake was the team’s secondary coach, he played under Falcons defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake.
Lake then rose up the ladder to become the program’s head coach and defensive coordinator.
Additionally, the Falcons are led by former Packers assistants Jerry Gray, the associate head coach, and Justin Hood, the secondary coach. Gray was the cornerbacks coach and the defensive backs coach/passing game coordinator for the Packers during King’s tenure in Green Bay.
During King’s last season in Green Bay, Hood was a defensive quality control coach.
King should be able to play some significant snaps for Atlanta if he can maintain his health.
Given all of the injuries he has had, he is one of the people who most deserves a joyful conclusion to his career. King missed thirty games overall when he was a member of the Packers because of injuries.
