Tampa Bay Buccaneers outside linebacker Joe Tryon-Shoyinka signed a four-year, $11.1 million contract in the 2024 NFL draft, with the deadline for a fifth-year option being May 2.

The Buccaneers would be unable to justify the $13.25 million option offered to the former Washington star in 2025.

Joshua Queipo criticized Tryon-Shoyinka’s draft pick status, stating he has only logged 13 sacks over three seasons, with 114 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, and six passes defensed.

Tampa Bay head coach Todd Bowles praised fourth-year Buccaneer Tryon-Shoyinka as a potential “Joker” in the Buccaneers’ defensive scheme, but his development as an elite outside linebacker has not yet occurred.

Bowles praised Joe as a unique player who can perform multiple roles across the line of scrimmage, including linebacker, defensive end, three-tech, nickel, and inside ‘backer, making him a versatile asset.

Bleacher Report proposes a trade for Tampa Bay’s Tryon-Shoyinka to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a fifth-round pick in 2025. The move could provide a return for a benched player and a low-cost risk for the Cowboys, who are looking for pass rush help.

ESPN predicts the Buccaneers will take UCLA defensive end Laiatu Latu with the No. 26 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, similar in size and skill set to Tryon-Shoyinka.

Tony Adame, a sports writer and editor, highlights Latu as a productive pass-rusher in the Buccaneers’ class, who would excel in the 3-4 scheme. Adame’s work has been featured in various publications, including Stadium Talk, Yardbarker, NW Florida Daily News, and Pensacola News Journal.
