Yankees Veteran has been ruled ‘out for a while’ after suffering serious injury
Despite finding ways to win games, New York cannot seem to catch a break in terms of injuries this season.
The New York Yankees have been outstanding this season, and this is made all the more amazing by the fact that the team has battled with a number of major injuries.
New York hasn’t appeared to be totally healthy at any time this season, yet it leads the American League East with a 37-18 record. The Yankees have been fantastic, but they were dealt another major setback when utility guy Jon Berti suffered a calf injury.
He hurt himself while racing to first base and is now expected to be “out for a while,” according to The Athletic’s Chris Kirsch.
“Jon Berti has a high-grade calf strain,” Kirschner added. “He’ll be out for a while. No timeline, per Aaron Boone.”
The fact that it was a high-grade strain suggests that the ailment might last weeks or perhaps months before he returns to the field.
Berti has had some bad luck with injuries this season, but he has played well when he has been on the pitch. He provided New York with some much-needed support at third base and hit one home run, drove in six runs, and slashed .273/.322/.327 in 17 games before straining his calf.
Hopefully, his injury has improved and he will be able to return in the near future. There is no way to know at this time, although his injury is obviously tragic. New York has been wonderful, but it has not been completely healthy, and here is yet another evidence.
