Former 5-star recruit gets into Miami’s starting line up

 

According to ESPN, Rivals, and 247 Sports, Miami offensive lineman Samson Okunlola was a 5-star recruit.

On3 is the only major recruiting agency that has not rated him a 5-star talent. Here are four questions to assist you better understand if Okunlola will start in 2024 and what his future holds in Miami.

Will Okunlola begin this season?

He probably will. He competes with Tommy Kinsler and Matthew McCoy for the starting guard position. Do not rule out Okunlola playing offensive tackle. The following questions assist to explain why he is such a brilliant player.

Okunlola is allegedly ready to play this season after suffering a leg injury in 2023. His spring performance has put him in contention for the starting guard position, but don’t rule out alternative opportunities.

Injuries, finding better combinations of offensive lineman to play with them other, and Okunlola’s natural quickness will enable the 6-foot-5, 325-pound athlete to pass block on the edge.

What is Okunlola’s finest feature?

That is the million-dollar question. He’s such a physical skill that it’s difficult to narrow down a single response. To answer this question, it’s probably better to see him play this autumn.

For the time being, know that he has the power to be a dominating run blocker, the athleticism to pass protect against elite defensive players, and is already adjusting to UM’s offensive line system, else he would not be starting.

In fact, there is no reason to assume Okunlola has a fundamental weakness in his game.

Could Okunlola be a strong player this year?

Possibly. It is uncommon for sophomores to be completely dominating, and it is especially unlikely to occur along the offensive line. It is one of the most difficult positions to master in sports, and it often takes at least three years to become consistent enough to receive such an honor.

While the preceding aspect must be acknowledged, there is also the reality that Okunlola has innate physical abilities. He can dominate with his strength and athleticism.
