Burnley and Birmingham City are in contact with Carlos Corberan.

Carlos Corberan’s agents have been in contact with Birmingham City and Burnley about their current management openings, despite doubt over his West Brom future.

According to Football Insider, the Spaniard is looking to leave the Hawthorns following a rough season behind the scenes.

Corberan received several accolades for his performance with the Baggies last season, guiding them to a fifth-place finish in the Championship.

For all of his tenure, the team has battled financially, but an ownership change in January is expected to improve matters.

Despite the arrival of the Patel family, Corberan’s tenure with the Midlands outfit might yet end this summer.

Burnley and Birmingham City are both looking for a new manager this summer ahead of the next season.

Corberan has apparently contacted both sides about their open positions as he seeks a way out of West Brom.

The Clarets have reached an agreement with Bayern Munich that will allow Vincent Kompany to join the German giants.

Meanwhile, Tony Mowbray has stood down from his post at St. Andrew’s after taking a medical leave of absence.

Mowbray missed the conclusion of the season, and Gary Rowett eventually oversaw their relegation to League One.

Despite the demotion to the third tier, Corberan has declared a desire to take over West Brom’s local rivals.

Birmingham was also purchased by American investors within the last year, and Tom Wagner will be eager to ensure the team does not spend too much time in the third level.

Corberan’s entrance as Mowbray’s replacement would be a clear indication of his desire for the Blues.

Burnley has selected Corberan as a potential replacement for Kompany, although other names, like QPR’s Martí Cifuentes, have also been discussed.

Corberan took over at the Hawthorns in October 2022, and he led the team to ninth place in the Championship in his debut season.

The 41-year-old’s team improved in his first full season, making the play-offs despite a lack of support from the previous owners.

It is claimed that the turbulence behind the scenes has prompted Corberan to consider leaving the club.

However, Corberan is under contract until the summer of 2027, therefore a compensation money would most certainly be required to switch teams.

Corberan’s departure would be a significant setback for West Brom.

Corberan has been a fantastic manager for West Brom over the previous 18 months, performing well under challenging circumstances.

His resignation would be a significant loss, as well as a stinging indictment of the club’s previous management.

It is concerning that he still wants go despite new owners arriving in the new year, especially if he chooses to drop down a tier only to leave the club.

A transfer to Burnley would make lot more sense if he left, but he must be really unhappy at the Hawthorns to walk away from the outstanding group he has constructed there just as they are about to receive some genuine investment.
