Víctor González, a Mexican pitcher, received a DFA after his recent performances with the ‘Bombers’. On Friday afternoon, June 21, the New York Yankees formally confirmed that the pitcher will leave the team midseason.
With an outstanding career in the Major Leagues (where he was crowned with the Dodgers), the Mexican pitcher did not make the cut and was sent to assignment (fired) before the game against the Atlanta Braves; this leaves a spot on the roster that can be filled with another player who fits better into the franchise’s plan and development.
Prior to tonight’s game, the Yankees made the following roster moves:
• Signed RHP Phil Bickford (#53) to a Major League contract and selected him to the active roster.
