Yankees Veteran pitcher now admits he wants to leave.

Within the following few days, the pitcher will depart from the team. In the event that no one claims him, he may enter free agency.

For the first time in many years, Bronx supporters hope the New York Yankees can maintain their remarkable performance in what is shaping up to be one of their greatest seasons in recent memory. Not satisfied with being Division and Conference leaders, they have also built a game that puts them in genuine contention for the championship.

However, as is often the case with such talented teams, when it comes time to make the difficult decisions that will lead to success, they cannot afford to delay, and everything must be considered.

Víctor González, a Mexican pitcher, received a DFA after his recent performances with the ‘Bombers’. On Friday afternoon, June 21, the New York Yankees formally confirmed that the pitcher will leave the team midseason.

With an outstanding career in the Major Leagues (where he was crowned with the Dodgers), the Mexican pitcher did not make the cut and was sent to assignment (fired) before the game against the Atlanta Braves; this leaves a spot on the roster that can be filled with another player who fits better into the franchise’s plan and development.

“Before tonight’s game, the Yankees made the following roster changes: Signed right-hander Phil Bickford (#53) to a Major League contract and added him to the active roster. Pitcher Victor Gonzalez has been designated for assignment. The club has called up right-hander Yoendrys Gómez (#94) from Triple-A, according to their report.

Víctor González appeared in 27 games this season, pitching 23.1 innings, allowing 10 runs and striking out 11 opponents for an effectiveness of 3.86 and a record of 2-1. These numbers were disappointing for a pitcher whose primary function was to save. Hello, González.
