Five star Miami recruiting’s top target changes his commitment date

Can Miami land DJ Pickett to headline the Class of 2025?

The Miami Hurricanes have an opportunity to grab Florida’s top recruit.

DJ Pickett, a five-star defensive back, is ranked eighth in the nation by the 247Sports Composite. The Zephyrhills HS standout will decide between Georgia, LSU, Oregon, and Miami. Pickett has familial ties to the Hurricanes. His uncle, Booker Pickett Sr., played for the Hurricanes in the 1990s. His cousin, Booker Pickett Jr., recently started at The University this summer.

Pickett had originally planned to make his verbal commitment on October 5th. According to Chad Simmons of On3 Sports, he has moved forward his announcement date to July 17th.

Pickett’s recruitment process has remained competitive. The On3 Sports RPM Prediction system ranks LSU as the trending favorite at 27.9 percent. Miami is next at 14.3 percent, followed by Georgia (10.6 percent) and Oregon (8.8 percent).

Can Miami land a top cornerback? The Hurricanes have three defensive backs committed for the class of 2025: four-star recruits Chris Ewald Jr. and Amari Wallace, as well as three-star Timothy Merritt.
